Art Doll Gift Exchange

Every year we have a Art Doll exchange.  Trading names and busy bee's begging to buzz in our heads.  Soon they rattle up some ideas and the next thing you know Art Dolls for someone else are born.   I was not able to attend the Exchange this year.  So below are pictures courtesy of Judy Skeel.  I have put the makers name on the ones I recognize, the others I have numbered so if the makers want to email me I would be happy to tag your Art figure.

Enjoy looking and

Winterfair 2012

The Guilded Lilies Welcome you to;

Winter Fair was an Artist "Winter Wonder Land"  We would like to take a minute to thank the people that worked at the "Guilded Lilies Sales and Show-off Table".  We sold quite a few dolls and had a lot of interest in the Guild.

Make it and Take it" project table".  The coordinator, Megan came up and thanked us once again for making this inter-active activity for the fair so very successful. The project is embraced by the visitors

Here is what
Megan had to say:
Guilded Lilies:

I want to thank you and all the Guilded Lily ladies again for a fantastic weekend. I love how your entire group has such enthusiasm- it is contagious!! The project is always wildly successful and I wouldn't change it, unless you want to tweak it a bit to save on funds and prep-time. As always, I can't thank you enough for all your time and effort.
Thanks again. Have a fun and restful holiday season!

Involving visitors in the Make it Take it is only a wee glimpse of what it takes to "Do what we Do" Having the art dolls on display at Winterfair fro,m the group helps make people understand the complexity of our work.  Educating people that Dolls can be art is very rewarding.

I am so proud to be apart of a group that is willing to share their talents with others.  The time you give making, working and sharing your skills is a wonderful gift you give willingly.

Classes and Projects

Retreat may not be something we talk about much but we do show off a few pictures.  Here is a picture of the Retreat project from this fall.  We took unwanted plastic toys and make some crazy fun creatures.

There are some that just could not get enough and decided to make a few Old Crows.

Challenges are fun here are the entries from the Playing card Challenge.  The idea was to take a playing card, taro card or game card and use it as your inspiration.

August Highlights

Charity Work Pays off - Look what we did!
There are so many you can hardly see them all.

We had so many big events happening in August it is hard to mention them all.
Everyone should be proud of the Charity Doll Production and Finishing.....Ah yes that nasty word FINISHING.   We did it Christmas in August we have 90 some dolls done to go to Children's Services, James Children's Cancer Center and the Ohio School for the deaf.  We know there are still dolls out there not done.  So finish them up and get them in so we can get them to the charity groups by year end.  Liz Seibold painted most of the faces. She did not have a table big enough to put them all so she lined them up against the window ledge.

We used a free Charity pattern donated by one of our members called Scribbles.  Scribbles and Friends charity pattern is free to any Good Deed Doer's Click here for Free Pattern.

Natalie Hamade Coming in October

Lilith the Goblin Princess

Natalie Hamade is coming in October to teach this wonderful class "Lilith the Goblin Princess.

Jody Miller had purchased her pattern and also took a class from her at Artistic Figures In Cloth 2011 so she brought the dolls she made.  Janet McMullen had her doll in from the same class with the Tyveck hair she was to demo at the meeting.  It was a great way to see Natalie's style and to get excited about the class.  Some of the River City club members are going to join us for the October 3 day class!  It is a combination of fabric sculpting, dye work, and Mosaic.

 Show n' Tell

We had the River City Artisans up to our meeting this year.  We always want to welcome them with open arms. Share each others art work, friendship and ideas is always fun.  This year we had a great show n tell, just about everyone brought something in to share.  You know we love to share.
